Tour Table of Contents
Day 1: Chongqing Arrival
Welcome to Chongqing, the famous “Mountain City”! Upon your arrival at the airport or train station, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax and start soaking in the unique atmosphere of this vast, layered city built on hills. Perhaps take an evening stroll to sample your first taste of Chongqing’s famously spicy hotpot.
Day 2: Ancient Buddhist Art & Modern River Lights
Today, we journey into the past to witness one of China’s greatest artistic treasures: the Dazu Rock Carvings. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features thousands of exquisite, spiritually significant Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist sculptures carved into cliffsides, dating back over a millennium. Returning to the city in the evening, we’ll experience Chongqing’s dazzling modern face on a Yangtze & Jialing River Night Cruise. Glide along the water and watch as the city’s skyscrapers, bridges, and hillsides ignite in a spectacular display of lights.
Day 3: Old Streets & The Story of The Three Gorges
Immerse yourself in the city’s history today. We begin in the Ciqikou Ancient Town, a preserved labyrinth of narrow streets, traditional courtyard houses, and small shops selling local crafts and snacks—a glimpse into old Chongqing. In the afternoon, we visit the Three Gorges Museum, an essential stop to understand the region. Its extensive exhibits detail the profound natural and human history of the Yangtze River and the monumental Three Gorges Dam project, providing crucial context for your journey.
Day 4: Sky-High Views Over The Mountain City
Today, we see Chongqing from every amazing angle. First, we experience the iconic Yangtze River Cableway, a thrilling ride in a vintage cable car that offers panoramic views of the city’s unique topography, skyscrapers, and busy waterways below.
Next, we ascend to the World Trade Center’s 131 Sky Deck. From this vertigo-inducing observation deck, you’ll get a breathtaking 360-degree bird’s-eye view of Chongqing’s immense scale and the dramatic meeting of its two great rivers.
