Day by day schedule:
Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa (3650m)
Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or the train station, our local Tibetan guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in the city (approx. 70km, 1 hour drive). Spend the rest of the day resting and acclimatizing to the high altitude and plateau environment.
Day 2: Lhasa City Tour – Drepung Monastery & Sera Monastery
After breakfast, visit Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Lhasa, once home to over 10,000 monks. Enjoy lunch at the monastery restaurant (at your own expense). In the afternoon, continue to the Sera Monastery to observe the famous monk debate session.
Day 3: Lhasa City Tour – Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street
Today you’ll explore the heart of Tibetan culture. Visit the Potala Palace, the iconic winter residence of the Dalai Lama. In the afternoon, tour the sacred Jokhang Temple and take a walk around the Barkhor Street pilgrimage circuit. Enjoy local culture with a stop at a Tibetan sweet tea house.
Day 4: Day Trip to Yamdrok Lake (4440m) – Return to Lhasa
Travel along the scenic route over Kambala Pass to reach Yamdrok Lake, one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet. Enjoy stunning panoramic views from Lurila Viewpoint and appreciate the lake’s turquoise waters, surrounding snowy peaks, and islands. Visit Samding Monastery on the lake’s peninsula and stop at a lakeside café for lunch and coffee. After a relaxed lakeside experience, return to Lhasa via the same route.
