Discover boundless landscapes on this 6-day Hulunbuir Inner Mongolia adventure. Start your journey in Hailar and travel deep into the heart of the Hulunbuir Grasslands, famed for their endless green horizons and wildflower meadows.
Experience authentic nomadic life by sleeping in a traditional yurt, sampling Mongolian cuisine, and joining in local celebrations and folk dances. Try horseback riding across the grasslands and enjoy the freedom of the open steppe.
Encounter the unique culture of the Ewenki ethnic minority, visiting their reindeer herder settlement and learning about their traditional ways of life. Wander along the beautiful banks of the Erguna River, which forms the border with Russia, and capture unforgettable photos at panoramic Wetland Parks.
Each evening, rest in carefully selected hotels or yurts. Enjoy daily breakfasts, all main entrance tickets, private transfers, and the expertise of an experienced English-speaking guide. Day 1: Arrive in Hailar
Airport pickup service, transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Hailar- Genhe: Erguna Wetlands, Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe 263km/4hrs
Drive around 2.5hrs to reach Erguna Wetlands, it is one of the largest wetlands in Asia. Take the sightseeing bus to the hill 720 meters above sea level, have a panoramic view of the wetlands. Winding down the peak, walk on the plank road, watch squirrels jumping around. Next, drive to Aoluguya, the Ewenki people migrated from Lake Baikal to the “place with lush Poplar Forests” in the mid-17th century, they live on raising reindeer, and are known as the last hunting tribe. You can see the reindeer, and feed them.
Day 3: Genhe- Moerdaoga National Forest Park- Shiwei 206km/3.5hrs
Drive through incredible autumn forests full of colors, arrive at Moerdaoga National Forest Park, take the train inside and cross the Greater Khingan Mountain Range(Daxinganling). Continue driving to Shiwei, a mix of China and Russia town you will find nowhere else, take a stroll along Eerguna River, taste Mongolian milk tea, see Russian villages just across. Stay in Mukeleng (Russian style log house) tonight.
Day 4: Shiwei- Heishantou: Russian-Chinese Family Visit, Herder’s Family Visit, Hike and Sunset, Bonfire 194km/3hrs
On the way, make a visit to a Russian-Chinese Family, understand their customs, watch ethnic performance, and learn to make Russian colored eggs. Finally arrive at Heishantou, have a visit with nomadic herder family, cook Mongolian milk tea, taste dairy products, you can also feed sheep and try on traditional Mongolian costume. Later, hike around 40 minutes to the top of the mountain to watch sunset. Horse riding can be arranged with extra fee. After dinner, you can join the bonfire party. Stay in Mongolian camp tonight.
Day 5: Heishantou-Manzhouli: Matryoshka Square 210km/4hrs
After breakfast, drive to Manzhouli, which is near the border of China and Russia. Visit Matryoshka Square (also known as Russian Taowa Square), the you will find many giant matryoshka dolls, the largest is with a height of 30 meters, and an actual hotel!
Day 6: Manzhouli- Hulun Lake- Hulunbuir Nationality Museum- Hailaer Airport Departure 250km/4hrs
Drive around one hour to visit Hulun Lake, one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China. After that, visit Hulunbuir Nationality Museum, the exhibition includes precious relics unearthed from the Paleolithic to the Genghis Khan. Only fifteen minutes’ drive, it is the airport, trip finishes here.
