Begin your adventure in Lanzhou, journeying by boat to the impressive Binglingsi Caves to see ancient Buddhist statues and murals carved into the cliffs. Travel west to Zhangye, where you’ll marvel at the stunning colors of the Danxia Rainbow Mountains—one of China’s most spectacular geological wonders.
Continue to Jiayuguan, the historic western end of the Great Wall, and explore its formidable Ming Dynasty fortress standing watch over the desert gateway.
Your journey finishes in the oasis town of Dunhuang. Here you’ll visit the world-renowned Mogao Caves, home to a treasure trove of ancient Buddhist art, and hike the majestic Singing Sand Dunes. Enjoy the magic of the Gobi desert, and try a camel ride or witness sunset over the dunes for a truly unforgettable experience.

Begin your journey with a warm welcome as we pick you up from the airport or train station. Settle into your comfortable hotel and take the evening to relax or explore at your leisure. Anticipate the adventures that await in the land where nature’s artistry knows no bounds.
Our first stop today is Tianzi Mountain. We will take a cable car to ascend the mountain, where you can admire the unique landforms of canyons and plateaus. Next, we will take a shuttle bus to Kongzhongtianyuan, also known as the Garden in the Sky. Here you can see peaceful farmland nestled among towering mountains, where crops are cultivated.
Afterwards, the bus will bring us to Yuanjiajie, the most popular area in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You’ll be amazed by the vertical rock pillars covered in greenery, said to have inspired the floating mountains in the film Avatar. Finally, we will descend from the mountain via the Bailong Elevator for spectacular views of the landscape below.
This morning we will drive to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Here you will have the unique experience of walking across the Glass Bridge suspended 429 meters above the canyon floor. Choose your descent method – zipline or elevator + slide.
After taking in the grand canyon views, we will transfer to Golden Whip Brook for a relaxing hike through shaded forest trails. Look for playful monkeys in the trees!
After breakfast, we’ll drive to scenic Tianmen Mountain. We’ll take the 7.6 meter long glass-encased cable car up the mountain, enjoying panoramic views of Zhangjiajie city and the winding 99 Bends Road below. Next, walk along the breathtaking Glass Walkway suspended high above the cliffs. From the mountain top, descend 999 stone steps to the magnificent Tianmen Cave. Often called the “Gate of Heaven,” allow time to explore this giant karst formation.
After our visit, we’ll transfer to the well-preserved historic town of Fenghuang either by high-speed train or by vehicle. The majority of Fenghuang’s residents are of the Miao ethnic minority group. In the evening, you can stroll along the scenic Tuo River banks.
This morning, take a relaxing 15-minute boat ride down the Tuo River to fully appreciate the charming wooden residences perched along the riverbanks. Following the boat tour, spend your final hours exploring the cobbled alleyways and historical buildings on your own at a leisurely pace.
In the afternoon, we’ll transfer you to the Zhangjiajie train station or the airport for a flight departing after 5pm to begin your journey home.

Dawei | Tour guide / operator
Dawei is a Tibetan Buddhist, and comes from the most north edge of the Tibetan plateau in Qinghai province, Western China. He has travelled as a tour leader to many South Asian countries such as India, Bhutan and also nearly the entire country of China. He focuse especially on guiding in Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Ningxia provinces and Tibetan regions. The activities of these various tour groups have included adopting family, horse racing, hiking, bird watching, cycling, camping, overseas students, cultural and religious sightseeing.

Andrew was born and grew up in a small village of Zhangjiajie, Hunan. From 2009-2012 he works for royal Caribbean International cruise as an onboard guest services officer. After that, he dedicates his life/time to guiding and operating tours in Zhangjiajie and around. As a native person, he knows all the corner of the scenic area, such as good restaurants, souvenir shops and cultures. He is very experienced and super flexible, he knows how to avoid the crowds and take advantage of the weather and offer the best travel experience to customers, all you need to do is just relax and enjoy!
