Discover the dramatic landscapes and unique wonders of Zhangjiajie on this 4-day small-group tour. Explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park’s towering quartz sand pillars—famous as the inspiration for the movie “Avatar”—with visits to Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, and Kongzhongtianyuan. Walk across the thrilling Glass Bridge at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, then hike along the lush Golden Whip Brook. Experience the scenic beauty of Tianmen Mountain by cable car and walk the cliff-side Glass Plank Path before descending through the iconic Tianmen Cave (Heaven’s Gate). Enjoy airport or train transfers, daily breakfast, all admission fees, three nights in a 5-star hotel, and the guidance of an English-speaking local guide for a seamless, unforgettable Zhangjiajie adventure.
Upon your arrival at Zhangjiajie Airport or Train Station, you’ll be warmly greeted with pickup service and smoothly transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to unwind and explore at your own pace, ensuring a relaxed start to your adventure.
Our first stop today is Tianzi Mountain. We will take a cable car to ascend the mountain, where you can admire the unique landforms of canyons and plateaus. Next, we will take a shuttle bus to Kongzhongtianyuan, also known as the Garden in the Sky. Here you can see peaceful farmland nestled among towering mountains, where crops are cultivated.
Afterwards, the bus will bring us to Yuanjiajie, the most popular area in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You’ll be amazed by the vertical rock pillars covered in greenery, said to have inspired the floating mountains in the film Avatar. Finally, we will descend from the mountain via the Bailong Elevator for spectacular views of the landscape below.
This morning we will drive to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Here you will have the unique experience of walking across the Glass Bridge suspended 429 meters above the canyon floor. Choose your descent method – zipline or elevator + slide.
After taking in the grand canyon views, we will transfer to Golden Whip Brook for a relaxing hike through shaded forest trails. Look for playful monkeys in the trees!
After breakfast, we will drive to Li Junsheng’s Sandstone Painting Gallery in the city. Li skillfully uses natural materials like sand and plants to depict beautiful Zhangjiajie scenery and customs of the local Tu minority people.
Next we visit picturesque Tianmen Mountain. We’ll take the 7.6 meter long glass-encased lift up the mountain, enjoying views of Zhangjiajie city and the winding 99 Bends Road below. Walk along the breathtaking Glass Plank Path suspended atop the cliffs.
Finally, descend 999 stone steps to Tianmen Cave, a giant karst formation known as the Gate of Heaven. After exploring the cave, we’ll return to the city and you’ll be transferred to the train station or airport to catch your evening flight departing after 5pm, concluding our tour.

Dawei is a Tibetan Buddhist, and comes from the most north edge of the Tibetan plateau in Qinghai province, Western China. He has travelled as a tour leader to many South Asian countries such as India, Bhutan and also nearly the entire country of China. He focuse especially on guiding in Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Ningxia provinces and Tibetan regions. The activities of these various tour groups have included adopting family, horse racing, hiking, bird watching, cycling, camping, overseas students, cultural and religious sightseeing.

Andrew was born and grew up in a small village of Zhangjiajie, Hunan. From 2009-2012 he works for royal Caribbean International cruise as an onboard guest services officer. After that, he dedicates his life/time to guiding and operating tours in Zhangjiajie and around. As a native person, he knows all the corner of the scenic area, such as good restaurants, souvenir shops and cultures. He is very experienced and super flexible, he knows how to avoid the crowds and take advantage of the weather and offer the best travel experience to customers, all you need to do is just relax and enjoy!
