Are you an adventurer looking for a minority villages tour to visit and do not want over-tourism or classic tourism? Welcome to the 5-day Guizhou Tour, starting and ending in Kaili. At these sites, Miao and Dong villages, we will drive and stop, and you are free to walk, talk with the locals, sing and dance with them, and learn about their Batik and paper-making arts.

Day 1: Villages Tour Arrival at Kaili

Once you reach the Kaili train station, a guide with a sign of your name will be waiting for you to welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. The first stop is the Matang Gejia Village, where you will be able to look at and, perhaps, even have a go at batik artistry, an intricate form of traditional Indonesian art. After this, we will proceed to Langde Upper Miao Village for a traditional welcome of the Miao people.

The Miao people should provide you with rice wine and sing revealing songs. The major experience will be the first overnight stay in Langde Upper Village, the most suitable place for immersion into the Miao people’s lives.

Day 2: Langde Upper Village to Dali Dong Village

The second day is for the tour of Paika Miao Village, famous for its Lusheng musical instrument manufacturing. You will then proceed to Datang Township’s Xinqiao Miao Village, where women are still known to wear Mini Skirts.

This visit helped me gain further insight into the variations in cultural intercourse of the Miao people. The day also ends in Dali Dong Village for an overnight stay to experience the Tujia people’s traditions and culture even more.

Day 3: Dali Dong Village – Tang’an Dong Village – Zhaoxing Dong Village

The third day of the tour is spent visiting a minority group market, which is considered rather active, and it is possible to come across a rather useful piece in the shops. Once you get to Zhaoxing, you will use a local car or bus to get to Tang’an Dong Village after checking in to your hotel. Here, you will have to undertake a nature trail over these terracing fields, and it will take you almost an hour’s walk to get back to Zhaoxing.

Accomplishments that are within reach include stunning scenic vistas and a reliable look at the agriculture industry in the area. The night will be accommodated in Zhaoxing Dong Village, the largest and one of the best preserved Dong’s settlements.

Day 4: visit Zhaoxing Dong Village and then drive to Rongjiang.

The fourth day of the tour includes the exploration of Huanggang Dong Village, well-known as a place from which the Grand Song of the Dong people originated. This is succeeded by Zhalii Dong Village, which to date holds a group wedding held twice within a year.

Then, it proceeds to Xiaohuang Dong Village, followed by Basha Miao Village, where the men are famous for their hair bun and right to bear arms. You will spend the day in overnight accommodation in Rong Jiang. This will afford another opportunity to feel the locals’ hospitality.

Day 5: Rongjiang- Shiqiao – Kaili

The last day of the tour starts with Baibei Miao Village, the oldest Miao ethnic village that lies at the foot of Moon Mountain and is famous for bird feather clothing. Next, there is Zenlei Shui Village, followed by Shiqiao Miao Village.

At this place, traditional papermaking from the tree trunks, which has been practiced for over 1300 years during the Tang Dynasty, will leave you spellbound. The tour’s final stop is when you are brought back to Kaili, effectively making your cultural exploration of Guizhou complete.

   • 15 to 29 days before the scheduled departure date: 50% of the deposit per person will be charged.
   • 14 days or less before the scheduled departure date: 100% of the total payment per person will be charged.
